Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 8 space mission in 2018, Omega is honouring a new Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon. Every feature of this watch bears witness to this mission, starting with its textured semi-skeleton black dial, echoing the lunar ground. The latter thus reveals the hand-wound mechanical movement of this chronograph, caliber 1869. The blackened bridges that you will see represent the different faces of the moon, while you will notice on the caseback of this watch the inscriptions 'APOLLO 8, DEC 1968' and 'WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE'. These last words were spoken by Jim Lovell during the discovery of a secret hemisphere of the moon. The generous 44.25 mm diameter case of this watch is worn on a black micro-perforated leather strap. Both technical and sporty, this Speedmaster Apollo 8 watch is topped by a tachometric scale, allowing you to measure your speed.
